Kareri Lake Winter Trek, HP

STEP invites you for an enchanting snow trek to a lesser known glacial lake called Kareri lake. About the Kareri Lake trek: Located at an elevation of about 2,950 meters in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, Kareri Lake is a freshwater lake rugged amidst mountains with greenery all around. Situated in the majestic Dhauladhar range, this glacial Kareri lake trek will take you through a journey of the most scenic views as it is home to lush pasturelands, exotic perennial flowers, and dense conifers. Kareri trek is also a favorite among the shutterbugs and nature lovers who can spend some time close to nature while clicking their best shots. Trek to an altitude of 9,650 ft. through the lush green forest of chirr and chilgoza pines.

Date & Day Particulars
Fri, 17 Mar Reach early morning in Dharamshala. Freshen up and board hired vehicle to Kareri Village / Nouli Bridge. About 40kms {2- 2.5hrs} Breakfast and pack lunch and start trek by 10-11am. Reach Ryoti bridge {Half way point to Kareri Lake} and stay in Tents. 40 kms motorable/5 kms trek
Sat, 18 Mar After breakfast start trek to Kareri Lake. About 6 kms trek. Depending upon snow conditions it may take about 4 hrs. Reach Lake and stay in Tent. 6 kms trek
Sun, 19 Mar Trek back from Kareri lake after breakfast and with pack lunch {or hot lunch at base/ On the way down} Trek may take 4-5 hrs. Reach road head by 2 pm. Reach Mcleodganj by 4-5 pm. Group disperse in McLeodgang. 11 kms trek/30 kms trek

Inclusions • Cost includes breakfast+ lunch+ evening tea+dinner on day 1, breakfast+ lunch+ evening tea+dinner on day 2 and breakfast+ lunch + evening tea on day 3, tented accommodation, sleeping bags and mat etc. It also includes transportation from Dharamshala to McLeodganj.
Exclusions does not include any unspecified or personal expenses. If anybody wants porter to carry rucksack, have to inform beforehand, and actual porter charges have to be paid, otherwise we are supposed to carry own rucksack. Programme's reporting is at Dharamshala and check out and Mcleodganj.

  • The participation is open to the members of “SOCIETY FOR TREKKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION”. To learn more about how to become a member of our society, please click here.
  • Fee is payable by cash/cheque/DD in favour of “SOCIETY FOR TREKKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION” payable at New Delhi. Rs.250/- will be charged extra for dishonoured cheque and such members will have to pay fee by cash or DD only.
  • The members can also deposit fee in our Saving Bank A/c No. 012900 0100526284 with Punjab National Bank, Minto Road Branch, New Delhi and send us the scan/photo copy of deposit slip.
  • The desirous participants shall apply in prescribed participation form along with necessary risk certificate/medical certificate.
  • Please note that dates, schedule, duration, fee of any programme is subject to change without any notice.
  • The Management Committee reserves the right to reject any application for Membership/Participation without assigning any reasons thereof.
