Dear Friends, We are pleased to inform that the team of STEP has safely returned from Kuari Pass Winter Trek. The team departed in in the night of 24th February, 2019 by Uttarakhand Roadways bus. Some Members of the Management Committee STEP were there at ISBT, Kashmere Gate to boost the morale of the team. The team reached Joshimath in the evening of 25th February braving landslides and traffic jam from Rishikesh onwards. The actual trek started in the morning of 26 February. The team was taken to Dhak Bend in a jeep and thereafter it was trek. The team reached the camp near Culling in the afternoon. Thereafter, snowfall started, it continued in the evening, night and following day too. It was heavy snowfall and treacherous weather. The team braved the weather and rather enjoyed it too. But it was not advisable to trek further in such a rough weather. So, keeping in view of the safety of the participants, the Team Leader in consultation with Managing Committee and local support team; took a decision to return back to Joshimath rather than staying at higher altitude. The team reached Joshimath on 27th February evening. Next day, they first went to Auli on rope way, thereafter started return journey in the afternoon. They reached Haridwar late night and boarded a train to Delhi. They have reached Delhi safely today morning. STEP congratulates Shri Khushal Singh Rawat, Team Leader and other members of the team S/Shri Manish, Kaushal Kumar, Sanjay Yadav, Samunder Singh, Prem Prakash, Gopal, Amreesh Aggarwal and Ms. Roop Kanwal for their participation, safe and memorable trek. STEP also thanks each and everyone who helped in organizing this trek.
